Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The majority of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. This oftentimes means that they do not have the opportunities to learn about the world around them, but you would never know it because they come every day eager to learn.

They are like sponges absorbing every lesson that I share with them.

Their ears perk up and their eyes stare in amazement when we talk about places that they have never visited. A lot of my students have never ventured outside of their neighborhood. Even a trip to our local university is a new adventure to them.

My Project

In my 10 years as a teacher, I have seen a variety of learning styles. In a Title 1 school, it is difficult to try to accommodate all of those learning styles because of the lack of resources.

I believe my students should have the same access to materials that embrace their learning styles regardless of their socioeconomic status.

The materials I have requested will allow me to embrace those learning styles by providing a variety of seats and materials that will make my lessons more interactive. The flexible seating options will give the students the opportunity to work more comfortably, especially those that have trouble sitting still for long amounts of time. These materials will have a great impact in my classroom because all my students will feel embraced and cared for.
