The large whiteboard has completely transformed my teaching, allowing me to model problems clearly, break down complex concepts step by step, and engage students in more interactive lessons. The markers you provided have given my students the opportunity to actively participate in their learning by solving problems on their own whiteboards, sharing their thinking, and collaborating with peers. This has not only increased engagement but has also helped build their confidence in math.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments since receiving these resources was during a recent lesson on coordinate planes. Students were so eager to use their whiteboards to plot points, create patterns, and explain their reasoning to their classmates. Seeing their excitement and teamwork reinforced just how valuable these tools are in making learning more hands-on and meaningful.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I'm excited to continue growing as a teacher by incorporating even more student-led learning opportunities. With these resources, I can create more interactive lessons that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving. We've used the materials to enhance our learning centers, specifically focusing on areas like fine motor skills, early literacy, and social-emotional development. One of the most engaging projects was a sensory bin that helps with both language development and tactile exploration. We filled it with items that reflect the different themes we are working on—animals, shapes, and colors—and my students loved sorting and naming the objects. This hands-on, interactive approach has made learning feel more like play, and they're absorbing so much more as a result.\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials arrived, the excitement in the room was palpable! The sensory bins, colorful building blocks, and engaging books instantly captured their attention. My students, many of whom have sensory processing needs, were especially drawn to the textures and colors of the materials. It was wonderful to see their faces light up as they began to explore the new tools. One of my students, who typically struggles with communication, was able to use the new materials to express his ideas more clearly. He showed me the animals in the sensory bin and tried to name each one, which was a huge step forward in his verbal communication. It was a moment of pure joy, and it reinforced the power of hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, my students are continuing to build on their social-emotional skills through structured play and guided interaction using the new materials. The next step in our current project is focusing on cooperative play and turn-taking. With the new building blocks and puzzles, we'll be working in small groups to solve challenges together. The goal is to help them practice patience, communication, and problem-solving as they work collaboratively. These skills are critical not only in the classroom but also in their daily lives, and the materials provided by DonorsChoose are helping us make significant strides in fostering these abilities. I'm excited to continue seeing their growth and can't wait to share more updates with our amazing donors.","fullyFundedDate":1723055762709,"projectUrl":"project/learning-centers-for-all/8534753/","projectTitle":"Learning Centers for All!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carrillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3720721_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1498613478289","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3720721"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17839","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":344,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":89,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"8.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.3,"schoolId":17839,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Wooten Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Wooten Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/austin-independent-school-district/wooten-elementary-school/17839"}
