Our school is only a few years old and growing each year. We serve a low-income, high poverty public school district in the Bronx, NY. We have been adding a new grade each year to this expanding school. This year, we added 4th grade with a group of diverse learners. There are many students with disabilities and students who are learning English as their second language. Our students receive free or reduced-price lunches.
I have the privilege to work with the kindest, most eager students.
They are motivated to learn and engage with their peers. They are positive and supportive to one another. This group motivates me to support them and use any resource I can to help get them the answers to their burning questions.
Our school's motto is "Cultivating intellect, character and voice." Each one of our students has been contributing to this motto as the school grows every year.
My Project
This project would provide a whole grade level of students with colorful dry erase markers. These markers encourage students to engage in lessons in an interactive way. Students use them on their personal dry erase boards as well as the whole class size board where they share and show others their ideas.
These dry erase markers work wonders to get ALL of our students engaged, including students with disabilities and ELL's.
Students know that they can easily erase if they make a mistake and add to their ideas with ease.
Currently, students are fighting with markers that are drying out and we have months to go!
