Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students in our 18+ Transition Academy are incredible, hard-working young adults with significant cognitive disabilities who come to school every day eager to gain independence and build essential life skills. They learn best through visual, interactive, and hands-on experiences that help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.

Currently, our classroom has a Promethean interactive board, but without a dedicated computer connected to it, we are unable to use it as the dynamic, full-function learning tool it was designed to be.

Adding an Apple Mac mini will transform our board into a fully functional, interactive workstation.

Because our district is fully integrated into the Apple ecosystem, having a Mac mini allows our classroom to seamlessly sync with district tools, educational apps, and accessibility features tailored to special education. With this setup, my students will be able to engage in daily interactive morning meetings, practice vocational and job-readiness skills, navigate real-world functional academics, and explore visual career paths as a group.
