My students are talented and motivated artists who work hard to combine their love of the arts with their academic studies. We are an arts school in NYC where students from diverse backgrounds are united in their dedication to artistic and academic excellence. Approximately three fourths of my students are female.
Through hands-on exploration my artistic students will see the science that shapes the world around us.
Understanding the science of climate change, disease, and human health will empower my students to positively shape the world around them. Science, technology, and policy shape the future. Gaining scientific knowledge will give power to my students' voices as they make choices that will impact our futures.
My Project
Model atoms and molecules will help my students actually build a better understanding of the chemical substances that make up everything in the world around us. The model atoms will allow students to see first hand how changing atomic structure in terms of protons, neutrons, and electrons changes atoms to new elements, ions, and isotopes. The model water molecules will be used to show students how the special interactions between water molecules allow us to live on our amazing, life-sustaining blue planet that is like no other in our solar system. Models of water will allow students to witness how these invisible water molecules interact and support life as we know it. Knowing the importance of water on Earth will help my students learn to protect water sources and to preserve water resources for generations to come.
