Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Latinos in Action is a unique organization that empowers Latino youth to lead and strengthen their communities through college and career readiness. We focus on four pillars: leveraging personal and cultural assets, excelling in education, serving the community, and developing leadership skills.

My students have big hearts, but need resources to help support them to serve our community.

We cut and tie blankets for the animal shelter, make sack lunches and hand them out to the homeless, and fundraise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. We go into neighboring elementary schools to tutor students. We fundraise with carwashes and other activities to fund our in and outside class activities. Having these resources will help my students have the foundations to do what we do.

My students grow exponentially as they come to see the difference their acts of service make in our community. They build relationships with each other, develop leadership skills, and begin to break out of the stereotypes projected on them. Help my students make a difference in our community.
