Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our K-5th grade students come from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds. They love to visit the library and they bring with them exceptional curiosity, energy, and diversity.

We celebrate our diversity and students are proud to see themselves as readers, thinkers, and makers.

Our students approach challenges with growth mindsets and willing attitudes. They also work together to solve problems and share creative ideas. It is an amazing and humbling experience to serve as their librarian and to watch them grow as students and as citizens of our community.

My Project

Our students love listening to stories and working together in the library! They also love building and creating with STEM materials. The library provides students with an encouraging, yet challenging environment for developing their literacy and social skills.

Students demonstrate their creativity and innovative skills through a variety of tasks after listening to stories and discussing them.

Students often work collaboratively to complete literature-based projects. When working in cooperative groups, they use their speaking and listening skills to solve problems together.

These STEM materials will engage and challenge students to build and create in response to our shared reading experiences. Students can also use these resources to apply science and engineering skills.
