Students will use the Hear Myself Sound Phones during independent reading time each day. They will use this tool while reading quietly to themselves. Typically, students are encouraged to "read in their heads" so they don't disturb others. However, this project will provide a Hear Myself Sound Phone for each student to use every day throughout the school year. Students will build confidence as they read aloud using the Hear Myself Sound Phones. Understanding how to pronounce words and read with fluency and expression will also support students' reading comprehension. Listening to their own voices while reading will help students notice decoding errors and allow them more opportunities for self-correction.
