My students need an Ipad Pro to use during, as well as, for instruction in the classroom.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, they still come to school with hopes of bettering their lives through education.
Although my students are classified as having learning disabilities, they are clever, creative, and anxious to learn.
They enjoy learning new things and react positively to learning experiences that are outside of the norms of traditional education. Many of them face adversity in their personal lives, these things may prevent them from getting ahead in life. Instead of letting adverse situation deter them, they do their best to come to school and take advantage of what education can do for them. Because of this, I make it a point to focus on their potential. I may not be able to control their home lives, however I can ensure they receive an academic experience that enlightens and equips them with skills that will allow them to flourish in life.
The world of technology is forever evolving. Gone are the days of dust filled chalkboards. As a matter of fact, dry erase markers and white boards are nearing extinction too. Today, images are often projected onto screens from a device. These devices are often interactive and allow for quick corrections or adjustments to what is being taught. The devices that are connected to projectors are usually desk or lap top computers. Even these things are becoming obsolete in fulfilling this instructional task.
We would really benefit from having an IPad to project these lessons onto our screen.
They are also interactive but, they are more convenient, faster, and have more education based apps that can be taken advantage of. We are trying to stay current with our instructional techniques and this device would help keep instruction relevant while also giving students the opportunity to learn to use new up to date technology.
