Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are creative, thoughtful, and energetic. As we've transitioned back to in-person learning, they have worked hard to readjust to being in school with each other. This hasn't always been easy, but my students have been resilient and continue to show up to school and give 100% every day. Our classroom community thrives on collaboration and peer feedback.

My students love to make connections between what they've observed in real life and what we explore in the classroom.

Our school is a Title I elementary school, and we focus heavily on math and reading proficiency. I hope for my classroom to be a place where students can engage in interdisciplinary problem-solving and use their creativity to drive learning.

My Project

These materials will continue to enhance and supplement my science, math, and social studies instruction. My students love participating in class reviews, labs, and guided notes. These activities help them solidify their knowledge of concepts that we're learning in class and are an awesome work product to demonstrate knowledge to visitors to our classroom. I will use the printer ink and paper to ensure that students have access to classroom materials that are customized to their needs. The clipboards will be used for group work and flexible seating. The extra pencils and eraser caps will be used so that students who don't come to school with supplies have what they need to succeed.

With these new materials, my students will be able to fully engage themselves in their learning.

When students have scaffolded, colorful materials to work with, they are much more likely to follow along in class and fully learn the content. Their lab materials, math worksheets, and other supplies are translated as needed for emerging bilingual students and contain detailed instructions so that students know what success looks like. Having sufficient school supplies allows my students to focus on their learning while they are in class.
