This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income, high-poverty school district, I work with students who are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to have my high school students appreciate themselves and each other.
My students have been dismissed by others as not being able to learn, and it's crucial to let them know that they are capable of learning and succeeding. My students work hard and they are excited to explore, discover and learn.
Our high school hasn't had an art program in a few years, and we're starting from scratch. The budget is small, and most of my students have been out of the building since even before March 2020, as an emergency asbestos repair had them relocated to another building for a while.
My Project
Students with special needs require extra support, even in the art studio. Our art studio is in the basement, and school copiers are on higher floors and take a good deal of time to get to, print, and copy any paperwork for the classrooms.
Ink will help us keep our printing contained in the classroom, so we can immediately print reference material, graphic organizers, and other necessary papers for students to keep themselves organized and ready in the studio.
We already have the printer, we have the paper (for now...) but the ink is low! Please consider helping us get this precious ink for our art studio program!
