Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Everyone, even children have moments when they experience overwhelming emotions. Sometimes children need to take a moment and step away from the learning so that they can refocus and collect their thoughts so that learning can resume.

I would love to offer my students a space where they can do just that, a space that they can feel safe and have necessary tools to help them get back to learning.

Allowing students to take brain breaks, quick walks or water breaks sometimes just doesn’t work.

These calm down supplies will help me create a special corner for students to deal with their big feelings. From different posters that offer different breathing techniques, to different manipulatives that students can use to help regulate their breathing. Some of the manipulatives I will be able to offer students are items like stress balls and fidgets that students can spend a few minutes playing with to help regain their thoughts and sort through their emotions. I would also love to offer students a zen garden that they could also use as another strategy to help them calm down. We will use the cart to help store all the necessary materials in this corner so that the area can stay organized and allow students easy access to find what tool will work best for them!
