Individualized Math Problem Solving

Help me give my students math manipulative packs for individualized learning and communicating ideas!

My Students

My young scholars are problem solvers! Transitioning into 4th grade means a deeper dive into academics to build upon foundational skills. For resource room and other special education students who commonly think outside the box (sometimes WAY beyond the box), discourse includes creative problem solving. My class of resource students is on a mission to communicate their ideas, work out problems, and share solutions they find with everyone!

Math is commonly an anxiety-ridden subject feared by most.

It takes a multitude of skills to work through complex problems. To lessen this burden, neurodivergent students can explore, solve, and express their valuable insight through different means of communication. With your help, we can acquire the tools to research and communicate effectively.

My Project

The use of a Math Toolkit for each student will ensure all students have problem-solving capabilities. Manipulatives allow my students to show and explain their thinking in a different way. As students that often think outside the box, manipulatives come to the rescue to help cue students into the visual side of problem solving. A personal math toolkit will foster independence when it comes to students solving problems! No longer will students sit at their desk trying to map out their ideas on just pencil and paper. Manipulatives provide a great way for me as their teacher to see the creative problem solving in progress.

Donations for these personalized math kits will enable each diverse learner their set of tools to solve any problem!

Students will be able to see and critique their own thinking through the use of visual aids and manipulatives. This reflective learning will help build their confidence in math and support the problem-solvers of the future!
