The use of a Math Toolkit for each student will ensure all students have problem-solving capabilities. Manipulatives allow my students to show and explain their thinking in a different way. As students that often think outside the box, manipulatives come to the rescue to help cue students into the visual side of problem solving. A personal math toolkit will foster independence when it comes to students solving problems! No longer will students sit at their desk trying to map out their ideas on just pencil and paper. Manipulatives provide a great way for me as their teacher to see the creative problem solving in progress. Donations for these personalized math kits will enable each diverse learner their set of tools to solve any problem! Students will be able to see and critique their own thinking through the use of visual aids and manipulatives. This reflective learning will help build their confidence in math and support the problem-solvers of the future!
