My Students

I love being able to work with such incredible kindergarten students. My students are creative, energetic, loving, and amazing learners. My students have been working so hard this year to learn how to read. My students come to school with a positive attitude and willingness to try hard things.

My Project

I want to provide my students with a variety of learning materials that will help them become better readers. Covid-19 has made it very hard for children to attend preschool and start building foundational reading skills.

This year my goal is to help each one of my students make a years worth of reading growth.

I have completely changed my small group reading instruction and I am more focused on the skills that children need to gain before they can read text. I am creating lessons that focus on building phonological and phonemic awareness skills as well as alphabet knowledge.

The materials that I am asking for will be used during small group reading instruction to build the missing phonological and phonemic awareness skills that my students need due to the impact of Covid-19.

Materials that will help my students learn the alphabet from Lakeshore: Alphabet Sound Teaching Tubs, Alphabet Learning Locks, and Catch A Letter Magnetic Learning Game.

Materials that will help my students build phonemic awareness from Lakeshore: Beginning and Ending Sound Phonemic Awarenes Boxes, Vowell Sound Magnetic Sorting Tiles, Simple Words Learning Locks, Change a Sound Flip Books, Word Building Blocks, Sound it out Phonics, Word Building Tin, Letter Crayon Word Building Center, and Snap Build CVC Words.
