Help me give my students the flexibility and comfort in my classroom with flexible seating. I have noticed that using things of this nature benefits not only their concentration but their mood.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are engaged, enthusiastic children with Autism. They don't let that define them. They each have their own personalities and interests. They show excitement every day they walk into my classroom. I have a multiple grade-level classroom but that does not change the dynamic of their relationships. They are extremely welcoming!
My Project
In my classroom, there is a lot of movement. It is known that students with Autism need flexibility and different sensory tools. These different pieces of furniture will allow students to work in a space that is both useful and practical for their needs.
My students love to learn and need lots of movement.
It is important that they have the opportunity to find something that will allow them the movement in the different areas of my classroom, both on the ground and at the tables.
By using things such as wiggles seats and yoga balls, my students will be able to sit in a safe seat with the ability to move. To give my students change I allow them to sit on the floor but I do not have enough places for all my students to sit.
