Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Trenton, New Jersey, is (and this is amazing) a sanctuary city. Students from nations all over the world immigrate to Trenton with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language Spanish.

My goal for this and next school year is to serve my Spanish speaking students best by learning Spanish to both communicate with them and relate to them in a more interpersonal way.

I want to make their learning experience in my classroom as fun, inviting, and easy as possible. We are requesting meta equipment for immersive learning m.Being able to speak to them in their language to help them through difficult sections or simply just to show them that I am making an effort to learn their language will help create this environment. This item will also help them to learn English quicker in the form of a fun video game. It is a resource that we would all benefit from in a huge way!

If you help support this project, you will support both my personal professional development and the well-being of my students. Representation for these students matters, especially for those who are just arriving to our country. We need to welcome them as teachers and embrace their language as they embrace ours.
