My Project

Our school is unique because of our diverse staff and student body. Our school district can best be described as one happy family. Thirty-three languages are spoken throughout the district. My students are special because they are immersed in an environment where we teach them academics and how to embrace the diverse student body. Learning is happening all over our school. In the classroom students are learning required content, however, outside the classroom, our students enjoy art, music, PE, and now, STEM classes. Our students have opportunities to visit the local zoo and other places in our community, which will inspire them to learn more about the world they live in.

I am excited to implement STEM education at our school, and intergrating STEM into all subjects with fun and enagaing resources!

Teaching STEM to Pre-K and Kindergarten students means having resources that are age appropriate, safe, and support imaginary play. Students at this age need resources that promote structured play while being free to design, create and imagine which are foundational skills in STEM education. I am requesting one LEGO Education Café+ DUPLO Set for my STEM lab to support developing fine motor skills, collaboration, and introducing my young students to early STEM concepts. Additionally, I can use this resource with other subject like Language Arts, for my advance students. They can play and write during our center time.

Having resources in my classroom to promote hands on learning and imaginary play is essential in developing social and academic skills needed develop "whole child." I am confident this resource will help me accoomplish my goals for my students.
