My Students

My middle school students are imaginative and eager to learn. They just love art and desire to explore various types of mediums and art techniques. They look forward to attending art class each day to express themselves creatively.

We are a culturally diverse school with students representing many cultures and countries.

We learning that mistakes are okay and we turn "Mistakes into Masterpieces." Our school culture is welcoming and there are encouraging murals and quotes throughout our hallways. Being a Title I school means a large percentage of our students receive free breakfast and lunch.

My Project

I am requesting these resources for my students to learn and appreciate the art of illuminated lettering. Students will be exposed to the oldest from of ornamentation geometric figures. This project will incorporate the use of pens, black and metallic in an ornamental styles.

My students will design and adorn their initial using the illuminated lettering technique.

My students will practice lettering in various font styles then decide on the style they wish to use for their project. They will create their letter on the artist tiles then use the black permanent markers to add line designs. By developing patterns they will understand the use of line design and complete their piece by adorning their lines with the metallic gel pens.
