This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

No more playing games! Computers aren't the future, they are the present. It is so important that every student who leaves my fourth grade class leaves with the skills and confidence needed to use and troubleshoot computers. We need a computer in the classroom to do this!

My fourth grade class consists of approximately 30 students from all walks of life.

We have built a beautiful, supportive family in Room 2. Everyday I am lucky enough to be inspired and challenged by this group of young, talented people. We are a low economic/Title 1 school and several of my students do not have the opportunity to use computers on a regular basis. Many of them have no experience using the standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or Excel. They also do not have anyone to teach them outside of school. My goal is to help them develop the skills needed to see that computers are a tool for knowledge, expression of ideas, creativity. They are so much more than a device used for entertainment.

My Project

I am asking for a HP TouchSmart 310-1125f - Athlon II X2 245e 2.9 GHz - 20" TFT. This all in one, touch screen computer will be the beginning for my students to explore new media and programs. With this computer I will be able to teach them how to create, revise, research, and present their thoughts, feelings, and ideas to others through the use of a high functioning tool. The reviews I have read on this system have been excellent. Each review commented on the high speed and excellent performance of this system at a comparably reasonable cost.

My students haven't had the opportunities to work with computers as much as they should have by now.

We need to start by having them available in the classroom for the students at all times. The movement now is for education to be paper free. This means assessments, textbooks, homework are all headed to becoming computer based. My students deserve to develop these skills and continue being successful in their educational growth. Please help with this project. Thank you.
