My Students

Pre-Kindergarten is the first experience for many of my students in a structured learning environment. They love to listen to stories, draw, design, and build while socializing with their peers. Curious and eager to explore the world while learning through play and social interactions, the children truly blossom during the Pre-K year. We have two sessions of Pre-K, 28 morning students and 28 afternoon students.

We currently share our 10 devices in groups, pairs, and sometimes we work as individuals.

My students absolutely love creating, communicating and practicing so many skills to be ready for Kindergarten.

Our roadblock is that we have iPad 2's which are no longer supported nor able to be updated. Therefore, we are no longer able to update or use most of our apps either.

My Project

My students absolutely love exploring the natural environment around our school campus and relating their experiences and observations to literature read in the classroom. After our outdoor explorations, the children document the activities in stories, drawings and 3-D models.

Our roadblock is that we have iPad 2's which are no longer supported nor able to be updated.

This iPad will fulfill our goal of updating our now out-dated class set of 10 iPad 2's. We have so many new plans for this school year, but a current IOS is essential to achieve our learning needs. We will also continue our BookBuddy reading program with upper grade students, but this year, we will raise the bar to BookBuddies 2.0! After sharing books about nature/seasons/wildlife and conducting outside explorations, the Pre-K students will create an illustration on the iPad to represent comprehension of the book and field experience, such as birds, plant life, small animals. This 2D illustration will be shared with the older partner, converted from 2D to 3D, then printed for the Pre-K student so that they will have an artifact to remember the total experience. We will also be launching a new app "Seesaw" to empower the Pre-K students with easy to use tools to create, to record their voice, to demonstrate their learning and to curate their artifacts.

This app will also facilitate communications between school and home: teacher to parent, parent to teacher, and even enable parents to view and to leave comments on their child's artifacts, providing them with a window into the school day.
