Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Did you attend (or are you currently attending) Ignite Seattle 16? If so, we're glad you're joining us in our experiment to see how quickly we can fund a project.
Our 500 students are PreK-5th graders in a school district that is considered suburban, despite the fact that many of our families face challenges usually classified as urban — housing, food, and supply shortages, chaotic home lives, and limited school resources.
My Project
Your support of this project will provide our students and teachers with books that will inspire them to expand their thinking about art and math. Many teachers insist they do not have art enrichment experiences because they don't know where to begin. These books will give students the inspiration they need to advocate for arts education, and they will also give teachers the tools they need to provide this instruction.
Over the past year, our school has slowly bolstered its art, science, math, and social skills book resources to make these disciplines more accessible to students.
It has been said that the best schools don't make excuses. These books will eliminate excuses from teachers and students that current, exciting materials aren't available.
