My Project

My students are from the inner city of Milwaukee, and sadly, many lack optimal conditions for success or even opportunities to be kids! My students often come to school with many burdens and worries from their unpredictable or stressful lives. Students experiencing significant hardships, like homelessness, often feel isolated or avoid attending school. However, these amazing young people are resilient, hopeful, and dedicated to creating a brighter future!

Snacks will allow me to connect with students who may need a break, welcome new students, provide an offering at circle time, and support students with food insecurity.

With so much on my student's minds, alleviating their hunger or connecting with them throughout the day can at least allow them more focus and joy! As the School Social Worker, providing students with healthy snacks allows me to provide them with nourishment, but also allows me to check in with them and build relationships!
