My students need a variety of tools to develop problem solving skills. The House Building Engineering Center and other items I've requested will provide engaging materials for our classroom STEM center
I teach kindergarten in a small town in Illinois. My students attend a full day program, and our district has high standards for our students.
My five year-olds come to me with a large variety of prior experiences and opportunities.
Some have never stepped foot into a school setting, while others have attended pre-school or a daycare scenario for any number of years. My task is to meet them at their entry point, and to guide them toward our exit goals.
The kindergarten special education population and the general education population is intermixed in my classroom. I am constantly striving to meet all of the physical, social, and academic needs of all of my enthusiastic little learners in a way that allows each of them to celebrate their individuality.
My Project
Is this heaven? No, it's kindergarten! This is a place where we learn through play.
I am developing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) center in my classroom, and I need help providing the most engaging, thought-provoking materials for my students.
Gears Builders, Bridge-building tools, etc., will help my students learn to think critically and problem solve as they play. We will have a STEM session built into our schedule every day, so that the children have daily opportunity to use their minds to create.
Working with partners will teach teamwork and collaboration with others among other life skills.
