This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As you walk into my classroom filled with smiling 7th graders that are working in groups, and anxiously waiting for the next scientific adventure. They enjoy using technology and learning through innovative avenues that will enrich their everyday learning. My students are a group of 7th graders who are English-Language-Learners that are continuously improving their oral, listening and writing skills. These students enjoy working in groups for their daily activities and labs.

All in all, my students come from hard-working families that live in a low-income community, yet you would not be able to tell this from just seeing their very high spirits on a daily basis.

These very same students are the ones that remind me just why I chose teaching as my career.

My Project

My students are primarily visual learners due to several factors, be it that they are ELL (English Language Learners) or they have accommodations in which models are required. We are currently learning about nine body systems in which anchor charts are sometimes not enough in comparison to a 3D model. My students would greatly benefit from having a visual that they can tangibly hold, put together, and identify organs from.

By having a pumping heart model and human body model that represent an depict just what a body system does and looks like, my students will be able to connect the terms, with the body part, and ultimately the function of that organ in the corresponding body system.
