Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Reading is a way to capture the mind of a child and engage them in another world or story from the past.
My students are caring, adventurous, and curious about the world around them.
My goal as a teacher, is to continue helping them pursue their curiosities.
My classroom is made up of 20 amazing learners. They come to class ready to learn despite the obstacles they face prior to stepping foot in the classroom. We are a Title I school and almost all of my students are English Language Learners. My students love coming to school because I make learning fun. My students work hard each and every day.
My Project
Books can be used in every subject. My goal as a teacher is to get students to engage fully in all subject areas. One of the ways I do this is to pair inviting literature with math lessons to draw students in. The books I have selected align with our curriculum and with specific lessons.
These fun and on-topic texts invite students to interact with our math lessons and help to make learning these concepts much more fun.
In addition, my enthusiasm for these books helps to further encourage my students to grasp these central concepts, as well as further promote literacy throughout the school day. Students will also have the opportunity to independently read these texts in the classroom library.
"The world is full of magical places, and the library has always been one of them for me. A library can be that special place for our children." -Julie Andrews
