My Students

Were you one of the students in class that never got a chance to say the answer because the classmate beside you always blurted out the answer? Well that is what I hope to eliminate, blurting out answers. With these boards, every student can have a chance to answer the question.

My students come from a low income area.

We are a Title I school located in Virginia. They are very smart students, but highly unmotivated. I have said many times, that teaching them is the easy part. It's motivating them that can be quite challenging at times. I love the fact that I need the boards because many students are so excited about what they are learning and anxious to answer questions that they know.

My Project

It is my goal with this project to allow every student the opportunity to "say" the answer by using the small hand held boards. So often students are anxious about the answer and blurt it out, leaving the student who is not so sure without the opportunity to think at all. We will use the storage bins to easily store the boards and have the students pass them out when it's time to use them. They will be used for all subject areas, in whole group instruction as well as small group. They will be used daily and would be a great addition to our classroom.

All students will have the same opportunity to answer each question when they write the answer on a small hand held board.

Please help me allow every student the chance to "speak" up.
