Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

All of the students in my classroom qualify for special education with an Intellectual Disability, which means they all have diverse and individual needs. The bulk of this project will go toward sensory items to help students focus while they are working. For example, one of my students has an oral fixation, which can be distracting for others. The teething necklaces will help him satisfy his need, while letting others focus. Those with ADHD will be able to use the wobble seats or ball chairs instead of roaming the classroom during lessons.

Picture books, board games, and table activities allow my students to build community by learning to work together as well as help build fine motor skills for individuals who have physical limitations.

All of these items will steer my classroom toward inclusion of different abilities and encourage students to grow using their unique strengths!
