This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The School District of Philadelphia students reside in the city of Philadelphia. Many students come from low-income households and are at-risk of dropping out of school every day. Now more than ever, my students have to dodge many obstacles every day just to get to attend school virtually. For most of my students, their school is their safe haven, their place that they actually call home.

The funding in Philadelphia continues to be very limited, and so the demand to assist students in achieving and reaching their dreams become more and more difficult to accomplish.

Your assistance with my project is greatly appreciated, and I know our students would appreciate all that is donated!

My Project

I am very excited to create a Donors Choose Project to help my Juniors students take a journey exploring how the African American experience and culture through seminars: Civil Rights, Music, Dance, TV & Film, and Historical Figures has shaped the world we live in.

Students will engage, interact, and participate in conversation with experts dedicated to chronicling Black Excellence.

The sessions are designed to educate, inspire, challenge, and encourage communicative thought in students.

The day will also include the HBCU Summit, where students will have the opportunity to meet HBCU Representatives to learn about Historically Black Colleges & Universities.
