This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work with some of the best and brightest kids Texas has to offer. They are charismatic, funny, hardworking, and willing to push whatever button they need to get things done.

Our students, however, reside in one of the lower, socioeconomic areas of North Texas and tend to have financial difficulty when it comes to things such as food and supplies.

That's where DonorsChoose comes in. Our students need supplies to start and complete the school year without having to worry about having what they need for school.

My Project

Hungry students walk in and out of school every day. Life often diverts their attention from eating right and proper hygiene. Stress, a lack of money, lack of housing or unstable living situations often take the forefront for our most at-risk students. Students need healthy snacks that they can grab before and after the bell. They also need a way to access emergency feminine and male hygiene products, which can be expensive or may be needed unexpectedly.

Students spend the majority of their day at school and can benefit significantly when their basic needs are being supplemented by the resources at school, especially when those basic needs are not being met at home.

If a student's basic needs are not being fulfilled (i.e. hygiene products) but they know they can access the resource for FREE while at school, then their stress levels reduce. We know that lowering adverse experiences for kiddos while they are young contributes to brighter outcomes for them as adult

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
