This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are some of the most resilient, creative, and hardworking individuals I have ever met. They come to school every day with a drive to succeed, despite the various personal and economic challenges they may face outside these walls. They are empathetic leaders who support one another, and their curiosity is boundless. They deserve to walk into our classroom feeling like their best selves, without the weight of worrying about basic necessities.

When a student lacks access to hygiene products, it creates a hidden barrier to education.

It is difficult to focus on a math equation or a literature discussion when you are feeling self conscious about your physical comfort. By providing items like deodorant, toothbrushes, and wipes, we remove the fear of social stigma. When students feel fresh and clean, their self-esteem rises, allowing them to participate more confidently in group work and presentations.

No student should ever have to miss a day or week of school or leave class early because they don't have the supplies they need. Having these on hand ensures that learning remains uninterrupted and equitable. By supporting this project, you are helping to provide a foundation of dignity and health. When their basic needs are met, my students can stop worrying about getting by and start focusing on their bright futures.
