My Project

My classroom serves students with disabilities in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. My students are very special because many of them are nonverbal, but they are incredibly caring, supportive of one another, and eager to learn. They show excitement through their actions, participation, and curiosity during lessons.

The sensory sand will help students regulate their bodies and stay focused during learning activities.

It will also be used in the sand table for hands-on literacy activities such as practicing spelling, building letters, and recognizing words. These tactile activities help students better understand and remember new skills.

The books will give students opportunities to practice early reading skills, build vocabulary, and develop confidence as readers. My goal for this project is to help students learn more words and begin reading simple books independently while feeling supported and engaged in the classroom

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
