Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Even though it's been almost a year since Hurricane Harvey, the effects are still apparent with our staff and students. I want our new library to be a safe place for everyone to escape with a new book. Please help me put new books on the new shelves in the new library in the new building!
I know that some students and their families are still rebuilding so providing them reading resources at no cost is even more important and appreciated.
My Project
Our students are returning to a new school building after a school year that was traumatic for many of them after Hurricane Harvey. Please help me populate the new shelves with new books that will appeal to a variety of grade levels and reading levels.
Many of our students had few resources before Harvey and unfortunately, some of the most needy families were the ones most impacted.
Books don't fix everything, but giving deserving students access to brand new, exciting books is key to maintaining interest, building fluency and championing literacy. I work hard to select current, relevant books for our middle school and high school students.
