This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in my classroom are ages 3 to 5 years old and come from all different backgrounds. About half of our students are English language learners, and almost all come from economically disadvantaged homes.
Our school is located in a major city.
Because the student population is so diverse, my goal is to make sure that every student has the materials and resources they need to succeed. They're loud and lively and already have a love of learning that I want to continue to foster while they are in my classroom!
My Project
In PreK, we have learning centers that children can play in during center play. One of these centers is the Housekeeping Center. In the Housekeeping center, students can pretend to do various things, including cooking.
Our current stove and sink are broken!
The faucet is broken off of the sink and after months of trying to fix it, I've finally decided to ask for a new one. The oven is cracked and the door pull won't stay on either. These new materials will replace the old ones and allow the students to have a place to safely play!
