To extend the book \"The Pigeon wants a Hot Dog\", students choose their own hot dog toppings and added them to a classroom chart. \"The duckling wants a cookie\" was a classroom favorite! Each child cut out their cookie, decorated it and either dictated or wrote about what they would do with their cookie (share it, eat it, etc.). \r\nI was able to challenge my students by having them follow a step-by-step tutorial by Mo Willems himself, on how to draw their very own pigeon.
