Hoping for Headphones!
Headphones are key to success with 1:1 iPads.
"I can't hear anything on my iPad!" "My earbuds are broken." My students are in need of pair of reliable, comfortable headphones to use for their iPads. This will help engage students on technology activities.
Our school population reflects the diverse nature of Fullerton. Located in Orange County, California, the Fullerton School District serves a diverse population of K-8th grade students from varied socio-economic backgrounds, with more than 44% of children qualifying for Title I and 34 home languages spoken district-wide. My students live in very diverse conditions, and many are on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students come to school with other challenges they are facing outside the classroom.
With 1:1 technology in our classroom, we use it to maximize opportunities for learning. We use our iPads to individually create projects and playing educational games as well as collaborating with peers to maximize engagement. Headphones would help engage students and increase their focus during individual learning time.
My Project
If my students had a pair of reliable and comfortable headphones that they could use for the entire school year, it would greatly impact their learning. My students would be able to hear more clearly the sounds on their iPads. With 32 students in one classroom it makes it difficult to hear what the iPad is doing when all iPads are being used at the same time. Having headphones will increase engagement. Students use iPads for a variety of things such as technology projects, learning games, listening to stories, and recording themselves demonstrating their understanding.
If each student has their own individual headphones, it would make such a positive impact in the classroom.
