Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Three cheers for Hot Dots and a cash register. It is time to count money and tell time in our trailer!
I have the honor of working in a school with some of the most wonderful students.
I have an incredibly bright, spunky, curious, and diverse class of students. Of 22 students, 18 are first generation children of immigrants or immigrants from Mexico and Central America. My class is filled with vivid storytellers, brainy bookworms, mischievous goofballs, stubborn problem-solvers, creative thinkers, and clever inventors.
My Project
My students will use the hot dot pens and game cards during stations. I currently have two working pens and language arts Hot Dots cards and my students go crazy every time I bring them out for stations. They would be thrilled if I had math and science cards to incorporate into stations. The cards that I am requesting will help my students to reinforce their understanding of fractions, telling time, and science.
I think by adding math and science hot dot cards to my classroom, my students will be more excited and more motivated to actively participate in station activities that will reinforce certain skills.
Also, in their quest to count money, my students will be motivated to learn and participate in school "store" activities using the play cash register.
