My Students

Our second graders are mastering homonyms, antonyms, synonyms, homophones, prefixes, and suffixes.

My students are a diverse group of second grade citizens.

They are learning to master language arts skills through exposure to multiple books and media sources during guided and independent reading instruction to enhance and improve our learning abilities in grammar, reading, and writing.

My Project

The books requested will provide students with multiple forms of reading exposure to learn word forms and grammar necessary for writing and verbally communicating as a global citizen. For example, students will learn in second grade to identify homophones such as 'bear' and 'bare'. In addition, prefixes and suffixes will help students build on existing words learned in previous grade levels.

This project will make a difference because students will be able to communicate more effectively verbally and in writing.

Students will also be able to identify individual word parts that will help them read more fluently and comprehend as they are reading.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
