I am a teacher at a center in Ohio. We are a grant funded center/home based 5 star program that services families from pregnant moms up to kids age 5. We are located in an impoverished area and service numerous homeless families. It is very hard for us to obtain the supplies we would like or need for our classroom.
Donations are what keeps our program running so we are still able to help our children obtain the education they deserve.
Some of my students come into my class seeing books or learning supplies for the very first time. I am always looking for ways to acquire new items for my students to broaden their knowledge. Whenever we introduce a new toy or activity to our students their faces just light up which makes our day.
My Project
In preschool, our students learn from doing. Creative play is a large part of helping prepare our students for not only Kindergarten but life skills for later on as well.
These materials will help bring a sense of home into our classroom!
We do have a kitchen area in our dramatic play, however we are hoping that a table will help teach our students about sitting together at the table for meals. We also have dolls in this area but at this time we do not have any accessories to help care for the dolls. We are hoping that with adding these materials our students will gain more skills to help them in their daily lives!
