Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I school. Among the students at our school, 84% qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch.
The majority of our students are English Language Learners.
We have an incredibly diverse population, with 27 different languages being spoken at the homes of our students.
This school year, I will be working with 5th graders in our Dual Language program. Our students will be learning in English and Spanish this school year.
My Project
Our classroom library is in need of an upgrade, and we could use your help! The students in my classroom are dual language learners. Some of these students are brand new to our country, and speak very little English. This influx of high interest books will greatly help with language acquisition and reading development. We are really pushing choice reading in our classroom this year.
Part of the beauty of choice reading is getting the chance to actually read what you want to read.
These are books that my students desperately want to get their hands on. We are two groups and we need these books for one of them (that's why this project is a "part 2". We really appreciate all of your support.
