They were taking turns drawing and then sharing with each other what they drew. It was nice to have a drawing center that everyone could participate. Because of you, my students now have access to resources that are already making a meaningful difference in how they learn, create, and express themselves each day.\r\n\r\nWe are using the new materials across multiple subjects, and they have truly expanded what is possible in our classroom. In art, students are creating thoughtful pieces that connect to what they are learning, using materials that allow them to experiment, revise, and take pride in their work. In writing, students are researching topics they care about, drafting articles, and editing them carefully—knowing they will be able to print and share their final work has made the process feel real and exciting. Seeing their words come to life on paper has boosted both their confidence and motivation.\r\n\r\nOne especially memorable moment was when students realized they could write, revise, and then print their own articles. Their reactions said it all—wide eyes, smiles, and comments like, \"This looks like a real newspaper!\" They immediately wanted to reread their work, make improvements, and share it with classmates. The materials made learning feel authentic, and students took ownership of their work in a way that was truly special to witness.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement in the room was contagious. Students were eager, curious, and grateful. Many asked thoughtful questions about how we would use everything and couldn't wait to get started. They understood that these resources were a gift from people who cared about their education, and that knowledge made them even more appreciative and respectful of the materials.\r\n\r\nOur next steps include continuing to build strong writing skills through research-based articles, peer editing, and publishing final pieces. Students will also connect their writing to art projects, presentations, and reflections, helping them see learning as something that crosses subjects and applies to the real world.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided supplies—it has empowered students to see themselves as artists, writers, and confident learners. Thank you for believing in our classroom and helping create opportunities that my students will remember for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1761148539639,"projectUrl":"project/artists-in-action-5th-graders-becoming/9651539/","projectTitle":"Artists in Action: 5th Graders Becoming the New Picassos","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Roman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6639432_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1764744707432","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6639432"},{"teacherId":8274422,"projectId":9423572,"letterContent":"Dual language pre-kindergartners and I wish to thank you all so much for your donations to fund our sensory project. \r\n\r\nWe have had a good time with the different shaped sensory balls. Are those things for us?\" Several of them helped unpack the materials, and there was an excited buzz in the room as they realized these were \"special reading tools just for us.\" Several of my reluctant readers were clearly interested in the materials and already asking if they could play with them. The hands-on nature of the materials made reading feel more like a game, and their enthusiasm hasn't worn off.\r\n\r\nWe've already started using the resources during our daily intervention block. I rotate through the activities throughout the week. Students build CVC and CVCE words, match phonics patterns, and practice decoding with interactive tiles and cards. Today, one of my groups wanted to use a more challenging set of cards which we hadn't opened yet because I didn't feel they were ready. After seeing their willingness to be challenged, I opened the new game and the students were so excited to learn a new phonics rule and read those words! These tools give students the chance to manipulate sounds and letters physically, helping concepts click in a way that paper-and-pencil work can't always achieve.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to deepen students' mastery of more complex phonics patterns and apply these skills in connected text. With the support of these new materials, students will be practicing digraphs, blends, and vowel teams in small groups and then using those patterns while reading short passages. Thanks to your generosity, they now have engaging, developmentally appropriate tools that will support them throughout the rest of the year. Your donation truly made learning more joyful, and we are so grateful for the difference you've made.","fullyFundedDate":1761502667386,"projectUrl":"project/sound-it-out-hands-on-phonics-for-growi/9840013/","projectTitle":"Sound it Out! Students earn class money for meeting expectations, showing kindness, and staying engaged in lessons, getting positive comments from other teachers. During our last store day, I saw students calculating their totals and making thoughtful choices—an amazing real-world math connection! Next, we'll continue using this system to reinforce positive habits while tying it into lessons on budgeting and decision-making. In a world increasingly dominated by screens, your donation has offered our children something far more meaningful—connection, laughter, and the joy of learning through play. It has been truly heartening to see students reaching for board games instead of their computers during free time. The shift has been nothing short of transformative.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been especially powerful for our English learners. The board games have become a fun, low-pressure way for them to practice both conversational and academic language. We've seen students who were once hesitant to speak begin to open up, take risks, and engage more confidently with their peers and teachers. This increase in comfort and participation has translated into noticeable growth in the classroom in a remarkably short period of time.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, the board games have helped our students grow socially and emotionally. They are learning to cooperate, to win and lose graciously, to communicate more effectively, and to develop empathy through shared experiences. We've seen friendships strengthen and confidence grow, all thanks to the safe and joyful space your donation has helped create.\r\n\r\nEven though I was ill for much of the year, I was still able to establish a board game club, and the games have been in constant use. I also created a lending system so teachers across grade levels could incorporate them into their classrooms. Your donation reached far beyond what we originally imagined and has become a valued resource throughout the entire school during class time, after school, recess, lunch, anytime, really!\r\n\r\nYour generosity has left a lasting impression on our school community.
