This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have a wide range of abilities that may be hard for most people to recognize. The students in my class have no language, they speak in other ways. Although they have a multitude of limitations, using their hidden abilities is their key to a successful life after high school.
They are considered to be students with multiple disabilities.
I like to teach my students to do as much as they can for themselves. Some have no limbs, limited eye sight or hearing but they can do many things. Their limitations don't hinder their abilities when shown how to do things that come easy to the average person. Building skills is what they do in so many areas of human development. I love the way my students over come obstacles.
My Project
The weighted vest will give two of my students the pressure needed for sensory compression. The basic necessities that my students need/use daily are not the average necessities that others may use in a classroom setting. They need as a lot of sensory stimulation.
Please help my students achieve their maximum potential with the items needed to help them get there.
They achieve in small steps, not leaps and bounds but they get there. The specific items requested are individualized for each students needs, which are completely different. (Example) If my students need a tissue to wipe/blow their noses, those products should be they're for them. Small things like that mean a lot when learning to care for oneself.
