Hey Coach, We Need A Few Nets

My Students

I am entering my third year of teaching physical education at a high needs school. I have been able to introduce many new sports to the students. I still do not have a budget to purchase replacement equipment.

The school is in an urban area in which 72% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.

Since the introduction of volleyball, many children have learned a great deal. I have also been able to encourage other teachers in the school to participate.

My Project

In order for my students to experience the sport of volleyball and all the benefits it brings, I will need a new competitive net and replace two training nets. It will make it possible for the students to develop the life-long, healthy skill of volleyball. It will also build pride in their community, self-confidence, and an alternative to gangs and violence after school.

The full funding of this project will foster an opportunity to the community to have recreational programs for parents and their children.

We will be able to compete and host invitational tournaments in the district. We will be able to engage the local park district to possibly provide more programs to community and attract those that would not have an opportunity to play volleyball.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
