Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We have a very diverse group of students. A great deal of our students are military who are acclimating to our school and city. We promote a very inclusive environment. Everyday PHE students recite our daily morning mantra: "We have a responsibility to make our world a better place one person and one action at a time. If it's not true don't say it. If it's not kind don't do it. Choose to be kind." They are embracing a culture of kindness!

My Project

The hand chimes will serve as an attention getter when a teacher or student would like to share a positive comment about a fellow hero. These Hero Calls (shout outs) will help to further nurture and extend our culture of kindness. At our school we encourage students to recognize each other when they are exhibiting positive character traits and following our school's expectations. Students are celebrated when they display grit, determination, empathy, or growth mindset. This recognition helps maintain a positive classroom climate & sense of community. Staff members can also utilize the hand chimes to encourage mindfulness in their classrooms.
