Students used the poster boards and borders to create visually engaging displays comparing the five colleges they researched, while clipboards helped them stay organized during note-taking and data collection. The roll-away desk provided a flexible workspace for group collaboration, and laminating sheets allowed them to preserve their work for presentations. These materials brought a hands-on, creative element that made the research process more dynamic and interactive.\r\nWhen students first saw the new supplies, they were visibly excited and inspired. The colorful borders and sturdy poster boards gave them a sense of pride in showcasing their work, while the clipboards and lanyards made it easier to manage their notes and stay organized during research sessions. Many students mentioned that having these tools made the project feel more professional and real, boosting their motivation to dive deeper into their college investigations. The roll-away desk also became a popular spot for small group discussions, encouraging collaboration and idea-sharing.\r\nLooking ahead, students will use the laminated posters and organized notes to deliver polished presentations to their peers and faculty. The ability to physically display their research findings will enhance their communication skills and confidence, while the hands-on materials continue to support their engagement. As they reflect on their college choices and articulate their priorities, these resources will help them create meaningful, lasting work that prepares them not only for college applications but also for future academic and professional endeavors.","fullyFundedDate":1749484366970,"projectUrl":"project/college-bound/9272870/","projectTitle":"College Bound!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Chase","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9931906_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742663250398","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9931906"},{"teacherId":9931906,"projectId":9183456,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our college readiness project! Your donation made a meaningful difference in my classroom and helped bring our college dreams to life in a tangible and inspiring way.\r\nWith the poster boards, borders, and laminating sheets, my students created vibrant college posters that now line our classroom walls. Each poster represents a college that a student researched and connected with—some chose schools close to home, while others explored universities across the country. These posters have sparked daily conversations about college life, majors, and future goals. The clipboards and portable desk allowed us to set up flexible workstations, giving students the freedom to move around and collaborate during research and writing sessions.\r\nOne of the most powerful moments came when a student who had never considered college before proudly presented her poster on Texas A&M University. She shared that learning about the programs and campus made her feel like college could be a real possibility. That moment, and many others like it, reminded me why this work is so important.\r\nThanks to you, my students are not only learning about college—they're seeing themselves there. The tables and learning materials funded through this project have made a difference that is not only seen but felt by any and everybody that walks into the classroom. The very pleasant primary colors of these tables and chairs that are built small but sturdy, made to best suit a child from 4-6 years old, is the crowning jewel of the classroom. It is the very first thing that catches your eye. The parents of my scholars were blown away by how perfectly set up the classroom is for their babies when they first saw the classroom during Meet the Teacher night. I received so many compliments from parents and colleagues alike. I was asked countless times, \"Where did you get these tables??? They are so awesome!\" Quite a few colleagues stated how this room stands out in a wonderful way from the others and it just looks and feels like a Pre-K classroom should. One colleague even said she loves coming into my room because it is so soothing to her. My administrators were blown away by your generosity and were abuzz with shock and excitement when everything arrived at the campus and I started setting everything up. They feel proud to have a classroom with developmentally appropriate tables and chairs funded by a community of people, both near and far, that want to support young learners and see them thrive in their education. \r\n\r\nI have seen so many positive changes to the experience of my scholars because of the furniture and materials provided through this Donors Choose project. From the moment my 2024-2025 Pre-K class entered the classroom, I saw their face light up. Many of them commented how beautiful the room looked and how they knew they were going to have fun. They looked so comfortable and cozy in the furniture. Our school serves free breakfast in the classroom and the very first thing my scholars did with their new furniture was eat their first yummy meal. They can sit ergonomically and they can maneuver around the classroom so easily. Smaller tables have given us so much more room to work with. My students love to take turns wiping down the tables and chairs not just because they are so pretty and still look new and are small to where they can reach every area with ease but also because they are very easy to clean. \r\n\r\nMy student's absolute favorite thing to do with their tables and their learning materials is center time. They have done so many different activities on their tables- fine motor activities, science exploration, playdoh activities, many arts and crafts, writing practice (their favorite activity is writing on their dry erase boards with a dry erase marker), math learning activities, alphabet games and learning manipulatives, etc. They use these tables to eat breakfast and snack everyday. We have celebrated many birthdays and holidays together with this furniture. During student led parent teacher conferences my scholars were so proud to show their parents where their spot is and at which table they sit. They walked their parents through what we learn everyday (our schedule), they showed them their favorite centers to go to and their favorite learning materials to use. They told them the names of the friends sitting at their table and then the friends sitting at the other color tables. They all raved to their parents about the classroom jobs they get to have and one of the favorites of everyone is getting the \"chair stacker\" job. They LOVE to stack the chairs on the tables because they are not heavy at all but they are sturdy. They are all able to stack the chairs on the tables without help from an adult and they beam with pride when it is their turn to show their strength and abilities with getting our tables \"ready to go home\" all by themself. It makes them feel very independent and grown up. This was not possible with the chairs I've had all these past 10 years as they were too heavy and big for them to lift on a tall table by themselves. For an adult something as simple as a smaller sized table and chair may seem like something small but in the eyes of a child it can mean everything.\r\n\r\nThe biggest change that I have seen with my students this year is that there are less behavior problems and my students are calmer than previous years. Because I put so much thought and meticulous planning into every inch of the classroom and was very intentional in setting up the classroom in a way that fully supports and aligns with what research has shown is a best practice for Pre-K and early childhood, classroom management has been a direct beneficiary of this implementation. Classroom management has benefited so much from having a classroom that is very inviting, welcoming, warm, not overstimulating. They love that they can see every point of the room no matter where they are. I have cover shades on all the fluorescent lights to limit the artificial lighting as research shows this is overstimulating to young learners. The class is very well organized and spaced out. It is a very obvious change not just in look but the overall way you feel when you are in my classroom. Even I as the teacher have felt the difference. I feel way less stressed this year, I LOVE how my classroom makes me feel (it makes me feel cozy, like I'm home) and having learners that are easier to manage than previous years makes a world of a difference for me as well. Whenever I have a student that is having a hard time socially or self-regulating an emotion, they are able to go to my calming corner where they can feel completely secluded but are still able to see everything in the class and feel safe. My students with various diagnoses don't get triggered and overstimulated as previous students with similar diagnoses and/or behavior difficulties were in prior school years. (They aren't crowded by 5-6 other people squeezed at their table, for example). \r\n\r\nThe future is looking so very bright for my current class, my future incoming students, and for me as well. Just this week we have enjoyed making so many beautiful and fun Christmas ornaments and crafts for my scholars to gift to their parents and we will be doing a fun and messy Grinch activity tomorrow- all done on this furniture. We are all looking forward to bringing in 2025 with more crafts, learning activities and making memories together every day while we continue to enjoy our beautiful new furniture and fun learning materials. I know my scholars will look back at their Pre-K school year with so much fondness and love. \r\n\r\nThank you again for making a life-changing difference in my life as a teacher, in the lives of 23 four and five year olds, and in the lives of countless future 4-5 year old scholars. Every penny you donated to funding these materials is being put to very good use every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1721410911402,"projectUrl":"project/invest-in-the-first-year-of-learning-for/8489092/","projectTitle":"Invest in the First Year of Learning for Pre-K students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Vera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9587326"},{"teacherId":9360435,"projectId":8434716,"letterContent":"My students love their classroom rug.
