My Project

Students at our school come from various backgrounds, socio-economic levels, and cultures. Our campus is a supportive environment where kids learn to respect the diversity of others. We want to start a Technology Club to give students one more way to showcase their talents, learn from peers whose experiences may differ, and help their school community. Students will learn graphic design basics using TinkerCAD to create ideas and find solutions to assist their classroom and school community. The goal is to engage as many students as possible by supporting interests in graphic design.

A 3D printer will bring their solutions to life and encourage the students to think critically about how they can harness their creativity to solve real-world challenges.

A 3D printer will also allow students to build resilience when they face challenges throughout the process. Their plans are intended to assist in solutions that directly impact their peers, staff, and school community.

A few examples of how the 3D printer can assist the student community: creating a zipper pull for students who struggle with fine motor skills, designing reusable straws to reduce plastic waste, designing Chromebook stands for students that require visual supports, and designing classroom manipulatives for everyday use, such as fraction blocks.
