Helping My Partner Teacher

My Students

I work in a large school with a very high immigrant population on the island of Oahu. Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now thrust into a formal school setting.

This past school year has been increasingly challenging for students, teachers and families recovering from two years of distance learning due to the pandemic.

Our students definitely struggled learning at home. Many challenges derived as a result of being removed from the classroom/school environment. However, we are also resilient creatures, and are learning the skills needed to overcome.

Our students love to build relationships, are definitely tech -savvy, and love anything hands-on and creative. Therefore, this project is an effort to provide an extra layer of health and safety for our students. We hope that we can continue having them present in the classroom.

My Project

I have been fortunate to have raised enough funds for a 24 pack fo sneeze guards for my 6th grade classroom. I would like to provide the same level of health and safety for my partner teacher's classroom. We switch classes, and it would be awesome for her students to have the same added layer of health and safety in her classroom. We are doing our best to keep our students in school, and not at home on the computer. We have already experienced several classroom quarantines, but we are not giving up!
