Helping Housinger Mathematicians

Help me give my students better headphones, dry erase whiteboards, and math manipulatives for fraction and place value problems.

My Students

I love teaching and this group of 4th graders make coming to my job so much fun. I love watching them participate in class discussions and use their individual strengths to succeed across all curriculum.

My students are an enthusiastic, compassionate, creative, and determined group of individuals.

They come from all socio-economic groups and love to learn whether we are doing mathematics, language arts, science, social studies, or writing.

My Project

Many of my students rely on speech to text to help them understand the activities we complete on their individual iPads. We also use the iPads to do enrichment activities. Without headphones like the ones I am requesting, many students struggle to hear the prompts because they hear other iPads around them which distracts them. Having each student have their own headphones will allow them to only hear their iPad and participate fully without distractions.

This year due to the impact of COVID on our learning, I have noticed that fractions and place value have been harder for my students than in past years.

They struggle with visualizing fractions and correctly using place value to complete multiplication and division problems, so the place value dry erase whiteboards will help my students to better see all the steps to completing fraction and place value problems.

The fraction war game is a way for my students to practice equivalent fractions in a new and fun way versus a worksheet.
