Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fourth-grade students attend an excellent, inner-city school where every student qualifies for a free lunch. Although it is a high-poverty school, each student strives to succeed. Parents and teachers are dedicated to students' success by making sure our school is a warm, safe place for learning.
Our school motto is, "We're getting ready for college!" and my fourth graders are doing just that!
They are hardworking, wonderful kids, and I am doing my best to get them ready for the future.
My Project
Fourth grade math can be tough! My students are currently trying to master multi-digit multiplication, and will soon be on their way to solving division problems. I want to ensure my students have the supplies they need to continue learning. To begin with, we need dry erase markers to use on place value mats and dry erase boards. These will help with the concept of drawing discs to help with bundling and regrouping. They also need multiplication charts because many of them do not know all of their multiplication facts. To take notes, they need lead pencils and lead refills. They go through a lot of pencils, and lead pencils are easier to write with and last longer. Some of my students like to take notes using pen, so I am also asking for a box of pens. Lastly, I am asking for rulers. We will be using rulers in our upcoming fraction and geometry units, and we do not have a class set.
Basic supplies are always needed in every classroom.
We often run out of supplies, and students are left without all of the tools they need to be a successful learner. Everything I am asking for will be shared by the class and will help my students in mastering math skills and strategies!
