My Students

Hello! I am a first-grade teacher at a low income Title I school. Every single student receives free breakfast and lunch. My students are an eclectic bunch, each with backgrounds distinct as a fingerprint. They come from different neighborhoods, states, and even countries.

My students are a handful of diverse learners.

Each of my kiddos has contrasting circumstances and lives that make them who they are and have molded them into the student they are today. I'm grateful to teach and learn from such a compelling group of children.

My Project

Every year I am blessed with a new group of amazing kiddos. Families that are able to bring in school supplies, but usually I have my stock of supplies that I use throughout the year. When virtual learning began, we sent many materials home with students for them keep to help them learn the best that they could at home.

Now that students are back in school, our class is running extremely low on supplies students need everyday to learn.

We are so grateful to have iPads for each individual student, yet many students are not able to afford durable headphones. Students use headphones on a daily basis in math and literacy centers, as well as when they take assessments.

Supplies such as pencils, glue, and markers were sent home during the pandemic, now leaving this year's students without these essential items. With students eating in the classrooms due to social distancing, students need trays to avoid making messes in the classroom. All these items will allow students to have smoother routines in the classroom.
